Social Media has been headlining for us just recently. Firstly, I have attended two days of really useful training on Social Media Marketing through my local Chamber of Commerce’s E Business Club. Whilst I knew that Social Media was important it was great to look at how to maximise the potential to make this work for our business. As I work on my own, it was also great to meet a group of like-minded people and to bounce ideas off one another – I do miss that sometimes!
I’m sure that you all know Theo Paphitis, former Dragon on the Dragon’s Den and super-successful business man behind Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas and La Senza – I could go on.. Well, Theo offers small businesses the chance to become part of his SBS club – Small Business Sunday which gives increased publicity to your business, support to your business via the SBS network and an opportunity to meet Theo personally. To do this, it is necessary to tweet to Theo between 5-7pm on a Sunday and pitch your business. Theo then picks six of his favourites and gives them that all-important Retweet on a Monday. After weeks of setting my alarm as a reminder and sending a carefully composed tweet we were lucky enough to be a winner last week!
To say we were pleased was an understatement. Looking forward to meeting Theo and reaping the benefits of our win!
