I mentioned in an earlier post that I had won the Theo Paphitis SBS Award back in August 2015. This month was the annual awards event held, sponsored at the ICC in Birmingham. Martin and I were really thrilled and proud to attend and meet with fellow winners and of course Theo.
The beauty of Theo’s SBS award is that it brings together so many like-minded people who have started a small business. This network is quite self-supporting via a closed facebook group and events such as this. It really is a valuable source of information where people throw out all manner of questions relating to running their businesses.
It was fascinating to hear Theo give useful business tips based on his vast experience. He is also a warm-hearted and funny guy who gave up his whole day to us.
It was also exciting to learn of a new online selling platform which Theo is launching to showcase the SBS winner’s products and services. This should be going live in April and we will certainly be keen to take part.
After a great lunch and more networking, the afternoon consisted of a Question and Answer session with a panel consisting of Theo, Holly Tucker – founder of Not on The High Street and Mike Pickles – founder of Really Useful Stuff – famed for their range of innovative plastic boxes. The three panelists fielded all manner of questions from their audience. It was a really informative session which I think we all benefited from.
