The height of your ceiling is one part of your room which is most likely beyond your control. So as a result it will have an impact on the lighting you select. It can be a little frustrating if you have fallen in love with a particular pendant light but we do have a little help at hand for you!
When selecting a light fitting, a rough guide would be that the bottom of the light fixture is approximately 7 feet (2.1m) from the floor. But of course it is your home and if you feel comfortable going a little lower that is your choice. Remember also that with a lower ceiling, a light fitting may appear a little larger.
Many of our pendant lights and antique chandeliers can be adapted so that the hooked ceiling rose fits directly onto the light fixture rather than having an exposed length of cable.
